AttractionsFor those people interested in The Border Ranges National Park is a World Heritage rainforest park on the rim of a vast, ancient volcano, adjacent to the Lamington National Park in QLD. A haven to rare and endangered native fauna such as Albert's Lyrebird and the pouched frog, it's also home to the northern most stands of the Antarctic Beech (Nothofargus moorei) tree, a rainforest relic from the Gondwana era. The park offers scenic drives, with many lookouts, picnic areas and walking tracks; some an easy stroll of less than 30 minutes, others a half day and longer for the more adventurous. Or you can visit nearby villages like Nimbin for a taste of the "Age of Aquarius" at the Rainbow Power Company, Jalanbah Permaculture Community, and the main street. Local towns and villages abound in arts, crafts, antiques and curios, with al fresco cafes and stylish restaurants offering local cuisine. Kyogle, Lismore, Uki, Mount Warning, Murwillumbah and Byron Bay are also pleasant half and full day drives on Rainforest Way scenic driving routes. Would you like to make an enquiry now? About UsSince 1933 the Old School Barkers Vale has been at the centre of local community activities.
The school has now been shifted to a more centralised location, leaving behind the buildings and a still majestic forest at its doorstep. Renovating the rooms and facilities to enable a complete "get away from it all" experience, Tony and Helen have owned and operated Barkers Vale Country as a quiet, peaceful countryside getaway close to the rainforest, since 2002.
